December 5th is celebrated as an International Volunteer Day, which menas that this iss a holiday of our precious The Machers! We thank all of them for their dedication, creativity, good spirit. We hope that the experience of being the Macher would not only be a source of constant joy and inspiration, but would also leave a positive trace on their path of life. The Machers are the best!
The Quarter – a heart of the 25th festival – was commissioned by the Festival and designed by Krakow company BudCud.
Four quarters create compliteness. Four Quarters created the anniversary edition of the festival. Here is how Israeli filmmaker Haim Y. Barbalat saw four festival quarters: Tempel Synagogue, Cheder, Quarter FKZ and Bosaks’ House.
For most of our volunteers this was a first visit in Israel. What are their impressions? Was it a lifetime experience?
As a part of the project Zmaluj to! / Paint it over! our volunteers removed another anti-Semitic graffiti – this time in Podgórze.
Without our priceless Machers we would not be able to organize and implement annual Jewish Culture Festival. As a reward we are sending some of them to ISrael – not only as a gratitude for their work, but also to show how much we do care about their development, to show them Israel and get even more motivated and inspired.

This is a unique witness of the time of changes that took place in our quarter after the war is presented in the Bosak’s house. This exhibtion brings together four dimensions of Kazimierz quarter.

The main theme for the 25th anniversary edition of the festival is a Quarter. We would like to invite you to a Festival Quarter that we created especially for the festival, to be a heart of the festival. This especially designed and built right next to the Old Synagogue temporary quarter within the quarter will be full of events and activities.

Two murals commissioned by the festival not only became landmarks in our quarter, but they also remind about its Jewish identity.
In some Jewish houses before the war – as told by Miriam Akavia – not far from the Hanukkah lamp one could see also a Christmas tree. Our The Machers went even a bit further – theu made Hanukkah lamp and Chrstmas tree into one HanuTree. Only in Kazimierz!
From Poland With Beat – this is a title of a series of DJ parties organized by the festival in December this year in San Francisco and in Krakow. Hanukkah dreidl is spinning round just a vinyl!
The main exhibition of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews will be opened on October 28th. The ceremony will be held in front of the magnificent building of the museum and its main part will be a concert performed by Polish and Jewish artists. Our festival was invited to co-organize this concert.
An interview with Janusz Makuch was aired last Sunday in NYC’s JBS (former Shalom TV). This very deep aand personal conversation with festival founder was led by Rabbbi Mark S. Golub.
