I was glad when they said to me, Let us go to the house of the Lord! Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! / Psalm 122

More than 3,000 years ago King David made Jerusalem eternal capital of Israel / 1 Chronicle

And no decree can change it. On June 7th, 2017 we will celebrate 50th anniversary of Jerusalem’s reunification. It has been united for half a century already, but despite that, it is still divided. It perfectly mirrors the situation of the entire world, that tries to unite more and more, but the more it tries, the more division lines appear. Jerusalem is a mirror of contemporary world.

Wherever I go, I am going to Jerusalem / Rabbi Nachman of Breslov

Since its first edition back in 1988, Jewish Culture Festival is pilgriming to Jerusalem. And we all follow.

Through many countries of the Diaspora, through numerous Jewish quarters spread all over the globe, we are getting closer and closer to the earthly and heavenly Jerusalem.

This world resembles the eyeball of a man. The white is the ocean that surrounds the whole land; the black is the world; the circle in the black is Jerusalem / Abba Issi, Derech Eretz Zuta 9

This is a city of many religions and of one G-d.

This is a city where sacrum melts with profanum.

Past becomes a present and heaven could be easily reached by hand.

The city of peace, that has never experienced any peace.

The city of pain. The city of ubiquitous death. The city of graves.

Ten measures of beauty descended on the world—nine were taken by Jerusalem, one by the rest of the world / Talmud

The gate that leads from here to there. The city of stone. The city of gold.

Chosen by the G-d. The place to wait for Messiah. City of redemption and of a new beginning.

A Book of History of the Jewish People.

The city of King David and the fast trams. The city of the Temple and smoky trashes.

The city inhabited by people who hate each other. The city – a syndrom.

The city of wars, conflicts and an eternal split.

In Jerusalem the first chapter of human history was written. The last one will also be written there.

Unparalleled idea for hundreds of ‘Jerusalems’ all over the Diaspora. Jerusalem speaks with all languages of the world. Its space is physically and spiritually divided. Its perception is different than reality. It is a sweet dream and harsh reality at the same time.

Before we will reach the gates of Jerusalem, we invite you to challenge those myths, power, past and present of this city - during 27th Jewish Culture Festival in Krakow's Jewish quarter of Kazimierz, that has been one of 'small Jerusalems' of the Diaspora.

More information about the program of the upcoming edition of the festival, tickets and other practical information will be published on our website in early 2017.
