Mordechai Gebirtig – a poet and composer whose life and work were connected with Kazimierz. Thanks to the universal values of his songs, contemporary artists still absorb and interpret his work afresh seventy years after his tragic death. PROJECT GEBIRTIG is an original reading of Gebirtig’s work by the leader of the Bester Quartet, Jarosław Bester—an encounter between two artists that transcends time, language, and tradition.
The project was commissioned by the Festival of New Jewish Music in Warsaw and the Jewish Culture Festival in Cracow.
